Lisa Mergen Wearable Art
My line of wearable art is created one-by-one in my studio near downtown Nashville using high-quality fiber reactive dyes on natural white silks. Starting at an early age, I experimented for many years and soon learned that I could transform a piece of white silk into the beautiful colors I had imagined. I incorporate many techniques from stretching white silks on frames and layering with cold water fiber reactive dyes until the desired colors are achieved, combined with vat dyeing, binding, resist and discharge. My line of wearable art consists of fiber necklaces, bags, scarves, tops, jackets and wraps. My larger wearable art pieces (that need to be tried on) can be found in select galleries and wearable art boutiques, as well as indoor juried art shows. You can find my upcoming shows on my website: www.lisamergen.com.
My beautiful model is my baby girl! It's a very lucky day when I can steal her away from her VERY busy life as a singer/songwriter. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram @madwelsley.
My Etsy creator, photographer and all things computer related are from my husband Steve, a retired drummer of 45 years. I am eternally grateful when he tirelessly tries to figure out all of the tech work I am begging for!
