Announcement    The home of my Mermaid Scarf & freeform Saori, overshot & twill patterns. Instant digital downloads can be purchased worldwide. I am a #Disabled artist. I have many days that I am too sick to respond to messages regarding download issues.

Note #1: I sell *pick up* design charts that can be woven on all types of looms. My 2017 ebooklet “The Mermaid Scarf & the Freeform Overshot Technique,” contains freeform overshot and twill instructions if you need more than just a pattern chart.

Note #2: to weave my 2018 Mermaid Scarf 2.0 you need:

1. My Mermaid Scarf 2.0 chart, available in my Etsy shop;
2. My ebook, “The Mermaid Scarf & the Freeform Overshot Technique,” if you need freeform overshot instructions, also for sale in my Etsy shop; AND
3. Yarn for the warp, tabby weft and pattern weft.

You can use my patterns to make make projects for yourself or as gifts. No commercial sales of items using my patterns, please.

Because of the inherent nature of instant digital download PDFs, they cannot be returned. Please read the descriptions carefully. Convo me with questions you have about one of my instant digital downloads before making a purchase. Thank you.

Artist and writer

I’m a longtime weaver fascinated by color spectrums, spirals, waves, flow. I often use color to create illusions of iridescence. I experience #synesthesia. Synesthesia is a unique dimension of perception and intelligence. It affects everything for me. My actually autistic visualization/thought process is also a minority perception and intelligence dimension. I think in 3D moving pictures, and I often think using moving, geodesic shapes. I visualize finished weaving projects before I create, for example. Neurodivergence has always been integral to my art and life. I literally see everything in color.

My freeform overshot Mermaid Scarf appeared on the cover of Handwoven Magazine, Nov./Dec. 2015. My eBook on freeform overshot as a technique and my Mermaid Scarf pattern 2.0 are available in my Etsy shop, as are numerous other freeform overshot and freeform twill patterns.

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a genetic connective tissue disorder, has limited my physical abilities over the past few years. I now mostly weave with chunky handspun and hand dyed art yarns. I publish an eBook on wearable art and weaving with art yarns.

Read more about me on my weaving blogs.

I have been a weaver since I was a child; my mother bought her first loom in the early 1970s. I used her loom until 1995, when I purchased my first loom. In 2011 I learned how to spin cotton on an Indian charkha ("charkha" means "wheel" in Hindi) and learned how to spin wool on a drop spindle and bobbin-and-flyer spinning wheel; I have a Schacht Ladybug wheel.

When not weaving, I can be found writing, gardening, grinding flour, baking, cooking, spinning yarn, knitting, and designing, weaving and sewing my own clothing. I am also a social justice and environmental activist.

Frequently asked questions
Can your weaving patterns be woven on small looms?

Yes! Rigid heddle, pin looms, other frame looms, backstrap looms and shaft looms. ALL patterns are for pick up weaving.

Do you sell WIF weaving files?

No. I used to sell them. But they cannot be copyrighted. Plus, they cannot be uploaded to Etsy as instant digital downloads, and I am too physically disabled to send emails with WIFs attached.
