Welcome to Little Cute One™!
I’m Maki, a mother of one living in Hamilton, New Zealand. I immigrated from Japan in 2001 with my two beloved cats. Since childhood, I’ve always loved using my imagination to create handmade items like sewing, beading, and knitting. Although I’ve had a passion for handicrafts since I was young, they remained just a hobby. I never formally studied them at school or pursued them as a career.
As I grew older, I noticed that many people around me had moved away from what they truly love. That’s why I’m so grateful to have returned to my passion, feeling a sense of joy and creativity once again. Some of us make music, others cook, paint, or craft—we’re all creators at heart!
In 2007, I started Little Cute One™ to share my love of handmade artwork. What began as creating colourful and unique pieces for friends and family has now grown into a business offering charming felt patterns enjoyed by people all over. I believe that handmade toys not only make children's playtime special, but they also provide a sense of peace and accomplishment for the creator.
Quality is extremely important to me. I put as much care and attention into every pattern as I would expect if I were the buyer. I am truly happy to share my work with others, and I hope you can experience the joy of handmade crafting too. Starting in 2024, you’ll be able to enjoy making felt toys in an exciting new way, using a method called iron printing, which makes the crafting process even more enjoyable and easy to follow.
