I am Lizzy and this is my shop. I live by the sea in Dorset on the Isle of Portland.
My assistant is my husband Sam who is the madness behind some of these creations - together we are madly in love with anime, kids/action/superhero movies, comic books, normal books (if that’s a thing!), games such as Dungeons and Dragons, computer gaming (mainly PC, PS and Xbox), circus and anything childish! Mainly making clothes, baby clothes, juggling balls and dice bags.
I also collect and clean myself nutritional supplies for all your small furries, so everything is organic, cruelty free and free of bleaching and pesticides.
Lastly, I have an eco friendly line! Facecloths, dishcloths, soap savers and exfoliators, make up removing pads and wash bags. All made with 100% cotton, so when it comes to the end of it’s life, toss it on the compost heap and it’ll be gone without a trace in a couple of months!
The biggest factor of Lizzy Little Fish Crochet that I'm most proud of is that nearly all of the yarn I get in is charity shop sourced. Every now and then I will need yarn that is specific to what I'm making, but any product I send out - 70% minimum, gauranteed, of the finished result supports good, charitable causes. Even the packaging is recycled!
Caring for the environment and our world is important to me, so being able to help Mother Earth and care for our fellow two-legged and four-legged friends through my little business is a bonus! I use synthetic or man-made yarns (no animal hair here!) and stuff all my toys with hypoallergenic stuffing, and my Eco Shop lines are made with 100% cotton so it’s compostable. This also means that everything I make is hypoallergenic and vegan-friendly!
I used to be a watersports instructor years ago where my nickname (among many!) became Little Fish as I was always the first one in the water and I’m 5’1”... I’m hoping the latter wasn’t a great factor in the choice of name!
A couple of years after, I became a stiltwalker and fire eater for hire, and to make some extra pennies I crocheted flower badges to sell off my stilt trousers as I walked. It worked well and the crochet became gradually more and more excessive until in 2013 Lizzy Little Fish Crochet was born!
I finally joined the Etsy bandwagon in 2016 and I’ve been happily knitting away now filling out every order under the sun from the most sentimental to the most bizarre.
