I blame Girl Scouts :-)
My grandmother taught me to hand sew when I was a little girl. I have always enjoyed a good old-fashioned whip stitch, but in the summer of 2012, I was forced to drag out the sewing machine when I had to make my eldest daughter a Civil War dress for a Girl Scout event. In the summer of 2013, that same daughter and I went to New York City on another Girl Scouting event. We spent hours in the American Girl doll store. I felt terrible that I could only afford a small amount of items for both of my daughters. They had saved up all of their money the year before to each buy themselves one doll. After that trip, recalling that I kind of rocked that Civil War dress, I pulled the sewing machine back out and started making clothing for their dolls. My girls not only loved the clothes, but more so, loved that I had made them. I would love to share my creations with your daughter as well.
The name of my shop was inspired by our sweet little kitty Lucy. We got Lucy at the beginning of the summer of 2013 and she stayed by my side the whole time I was sewing. She was either in my scrap bag making it impossible to throw away my scraps or laying on top of my fabric and patterns. Sadly, we lost Lucy in September of 2013 to what the vets said was congenital heart failure and simultaneous kidney failure. Obviously we were devastated, but rather than forget about her, I decided to name my shop after her, and each of my creations after all of the other kitties I have owned in my lifetime. If anyone would like the story behind any of my product names, let me know and I'll be happy to add them to the descriptions.
