Beauty in Paper Sculpture Fine Art
Welcome to my new paper fine art world!
I'm “little m,” a paper artist with a background in graphic design and illustration.
I enjoyed making aizomé/shibori; textile dye art for the last 6 years. When I moved from Vancouver to Port Alice on Vancouver Island, I started this 3D paper fine art project. Some of my textile dyed items are still on my shop.
My paper art designs are created in Illustrator. Some designs employ intricate geometric, Japanese Kumiko motifs, and some follow a more fluid or abstract approach.
Shapes are created by folded, curled and/or rolled up cardstock and pre-cut quilled paper strips. Those pieces are handcrafted and meticulously glued to the background with tweezers. They are then placed in shadow picture frames.
My paper art is unique and stylish on its own, but I’d like you to enjoy the shadows as well. Shadows are not front and center, but they introduce a new element to my paper art, and they can grab everybody's attention.
When this art casts shadows from different angles and brightness of light, it can get very dramatic.
Inspiration is everywhere, and I have so many new design ideas. I'll keep adding new designs so watch this space!
