Making garments from scratch gives a certain satisfaction that you will only know once it’s done. Being able to say ‘oh I made it’ when you receive a compliment about something you made just makes you walk that little bit taller and hold your head that little bit higher.
While making clothes from scratch can’t be a little daunting and also time-consuming it is well worth it when you have something unique, well-fitting, and of great quality. You might be able to wear that silk dress that you might not have been able to afford therefore settling for a cheap polyester dress that just doesn’t quite fit or feel the same.
Another option to help reduce waste is up-cycling second-hand (thrift shop) clothing. If it be by altering a garment to better suit your style by removing, adding, lengthening, shortening, etc, or discarding the style completely and just using the fabric to make something entirely new. Giving life to an item otherwise destined for landfill is somewhat rewarding and just makes you feel that little bit better knowing you are doing something to help our environment. It all adds up.
So, here I am sharing my patterns and the knowledge and skills I have with you so that you too can feel proud to be wearing a garment you spent time and effort making. You will be able to follow along with my sewing tutorials or beginner basics ‘how tos’ to learn some new skills and gain confidence in your sewing ability.

5 out of 5 starsBeautiful pattern but required some adjustments unfortunately! I made 3 sets for my daughters, although I used a different short pattern as they were very short. Sizing is a bit off for the top - I have 3 daughters all a size 8 based on the size chart, but I had to shorten the straps by at least 15cm. This had to be done after the fact so was a bit frustrating to have to unpick from the lining, shorten and then reattach. This made the frills looks a bit off as they were stitched into the bodice part. Would likely require me printing the strap and frill of a smaller size to correct in future

5 out of 5 starsI haven’t done a sewing project in about 14 years and decided to start with this one with some Christmas pyjamas for my kids. I did have to unpack a couple of things but that was my only because I didn’t know what I was doing but overall I made the cutest pyjamas. The patterns worked amazing.

5 out of 5 starsSuper cute top and true to size. I made it with a ten year old and it turned out really sweet.

4 out of 5 starsIt turned out very nice but it is definitely a more advanced project. The pattern fit together perfectly and the size was amazing. The only issue I had was the instructions where a little unclear. Overall I love the outcome!

4 out of 5 starsPattern instructions are little confusing, but manageable if you have sewing experience. The pattern is still good. I’d recommend lengthening the skirt pieces if you don’t want it to be a super mini dress. I added five inches for my sister and it was still on the short side.

4 out of 5 starsVery cute pattern. Doesn't come with pictures on the directions. Shorts turned out perfectly. Top needed adjustments. Straps were way too long. Also hard to get on when using cotton fabric because of no stretch. Overall very cute though.
