The world of traditional textiles...
Luckily I was in Mexico training English teachers in an area with a lot of wonderfully dressed indigenous women. I started visiting their nearby village and documenting their processes for making these elaborate costumes. This turned into a full-blown passion and so I have been traveling around Mexico since 2006 to far-flung fiestas and ceremonies, feast days, artisan fairs and collecting textiles.
All good collecting seems to end with the need to sell some of the over-flow. I love supporting the artisan's work and represent several coops in Oaxaca.. Even more I love telling their stories so others can appreciate how much work goes into their textiles used daily for practical purposes and their fantastic ceremonial costumes (traje).
My etsy store is my way of sharing my passion for collecting and MEXICO with others.
"Textile Fiestas of Mexico - a travelers guide" - printed in 2016- THRUMS publisher...has won 3 'Best Travel Book' awards and is available here at my Etsy shop and on Amazon. My contribution to your traveling in Mexico and supporting the amazing traditional artisans..... YES, Mexico is SAFE!
