The Butterfly Effect: My Macrame Journey
Oh wow, the beautiful butterfly effect. Do you ever wonder what your life would look like if you hadn't made that one decision that led to the chain reaction now so central to your life? That's exactly how I feel about macrame.
Picture this: It's 2020, peak COVID. A girl, bored in her college apartment, desperately needed something to do. I ventured to Hobby Lobby, found a DIY plant hanger kit, and thought I'd give it a try. Something about tying the knots just felt right; it was incredibly relaxing, and I realized I was actually good at it. I'd always had a creative heart but never truly found my medium in fiber art until that moment.
Months passed, and I continued making plant hangers as gifts for friends and family. For years, it remained a cherished hobby, always on the back burner. After spending years working in hospitality, then jumping to a 9-to-5 job hoping for the stability I desired, I realized nothing would truly satisfy me until I was my own boss. Following many encouraging chats with coworkers and friends, I decided to take a leap by selling my macrame. It started, as it often does, by selling to friends on Facebook. Once I sold a few items, I thought, 'Okay, I need a website.' From there, it's truly been one big snowball effect.
I'm that girl, with a dream to create macrame and run her own business, and I am so blessed to be where I am today. I'm incredibly proud of my younger self for taking that leap and doing uncomfortable things, because it has led me to where we are today: a full-time macrame artist.
