About Loom & Stars

Loom & Stars believes in beautiful fabric — fabric made by hand.

Many of our fabrics are actually made by people: skilled craftsmen and women using a variety of traditional techniques to create fabrics of incredible beauty. In India, artisans have been handing down their knowledge for centuries. Try sewing and wearing our fabric made by humans, not machines — you will love it! Hand woven cottons are so deliciously soft and light that you will want to wrap yourself up in them, and they are sustainable, having been made without the use of electricity.

Because this fabric is made by hand, every yard is slightly different. Your order will resemble what is shown but not look exactly the same. Fabrics may have irregularities in the weave, dye, print, etc. due to the hand-crafted nature of these textiles. These are not flaws — we think that they add to the fabric’s charm and natural beauty! Each piece is unique and beautifully imperfect — just like people.

We are proud that nearly all of our packaging is made of recycled materials (even the plastics!). Please reuse or recycle them! If your order comes in a plastic mailing envelope or bubble mailer, please note that it has a second adhesive sealing strip, so that you can reuse it.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

Most of our fabrics have been made by hand, so please treat them with care: Hand wash gently in cool water, separately, with a mild detergent and air dry in the shade; use a warm iron.

Colors may bleed in the first few washes. ALWAYS test first! Wash your fabric before using it: it was not made in a factory and may have residual dust or dyes on it.

Indigo-dyed fabrics will continue to lighten over time, just like denim. They are light sensitive, so store them with care.

Please Note: Loom & Stars handwoven fabrics should not be machine washed or put in the dryer, as they are too delicate for such treatment. In this way we can show our respect for the weavers and other artisans who create such beautiful textiles!

Returns

Although we think you will love our fabric, we are happy to accept returns within 30 days. (But why not order a swatch first?)

Fabric must be unused, unwashed, uncut, and in the same condition as when it was sent to you. Only the cost of the fabric will be refunded, less a 15% restocking fee. No returns on sale fabric, swatches, fabric pieces of less than one yard in length, or fabric not in its original condition.

How to return: send us an email for return instructions, and then ship your package by a trackable method, noting that it must reach us within 30 days of the date of purchase.

Fabric Note

Most of our fabrics are hand made and every yard is slightly different; there may be irregularities in the weave, dye, print, etc. These are not flaws, but reminders that the fabrics were hand-crafted.

Your order will resemble what is shown in the item photo, but not look exactly the same. Because it was not made in a factory, it may have residual dust or dyes on it; please wash before using.

Also, color displays differently on every monitor or device, so if that is a concern, why not order a swatch?
