Really happy with this purchase. I’m always looking for interesting indie comics, and Timber #1 looked too good to pass up. The book arrived exactly as described, was packaged with care, and is a great read. I’d happily buy from them again. Looking forward to what comes next!

As a lover of zines, these are some of my faves!

Beat the Rust is a compelling and deeply compassionate minicomic a woman who inadvertently becomes a hoarder. Though it’s not an ideal situation, I’m in awe of the level of detail the artist uses in the illustrations of the clutter inside her house. It’s easy to get lost in the comic pages as the story progresses, and I appreciate the artist’s notes regarding trauma at the end. This incredible comic hit me right in the heart.

The Downed Deer is a fascinating minicomic whose mundane horror is immediately relatable. I’ve driven down the stretch of road between Atlanta and Gainesville that serves as the setting for the story, and I admit that I imagined a similar nightmare – stopping by the side of the road to pee, only to have a friend disappear into the dense foliage. The artist explores what would happen in this scenario with incredible realism, and I love the way the art stylizes the elements of the open-air claustrophobia, from the too-small car to the too-large trees. If you’re the sort of person who daydreams while driving, you owe it to yourself to check out this brilliant comic.
