For several years I have wanted to learn how to crochet and finally after several attempts to self teach, I broke down and took a couple classes. Once I got the basic stitches mastered, I practiced, and practiced, and practiced. Now I am leaping into some more difficult stitches and hoping to master all of them.
I grew up around women that could sew, knit, crochet, and quilt and have marveled at the beauty of their creations. So, I am tackling crochet first. With the hopes of starting some new in the future...with my eye set up quilting.
Just recently my husband and I found out that we are expecting our first bundle of joy. The thought that I can wrap my little bundle in a blanket made just for them, makes my heart smile. And hopefully it will be something they will have for their entire life. Much like I still have my 'pink blankie' from my early childhood.
There is something nostalgic about a handmade item, the history behind it and the story that goes with the creation of the item.
