Calligraphy, Event Signage, & Quirky Art since 2017 in Middle TN
Hi!
I'm Alyssa. Hellloooo! I started Lucky Shadow shop in 2017 after we moved to TN from MS but I have been dreaming about it for as long as I can remember. I graduated with a bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Belhaven University in Jackson, MS in 2014 and have loved all forms of art making since I was a kid.
When I started Belhaven, the end goal was always to become a high school art teacher. It’s all what I wanted to do ever since the 8th grade! BUT during my college years, things changed as most things tend to do and I began to question what I realllyyy wanted to do. So after I graduated in 2014, I had this degree but I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do with it. In fact, I didn’t do ANYTHING related to art or teaching for 3 whole years after graduation. It wasn’t until I moved to TN that I realized that this whole dream I had since 8th grade isn’t what I wanted to do anymore, and that terrified me! What was I going to do now? What kind of dream should I have? Then a light went off.
The answer was obvious but so deeply in the back of my mind that I had almost forgotten about it. THIS! The dream I had for so many years, the dream to create whatever I wanted to, to explore all art forms again on my terms, was back in my mind and coming at me FULL FORCE. I couldn’t deny it, and even though I was so scared to start something like this, (I mean, what if people didn’t like anything I did?) I TOOK THE PLUNGE! I set all my fears aside and started Lucky Shadow Shop. I started creating for me and started sharing what I did.
I’m so so happy that I made this decision and I’m extremely grateful for each and every one of you that chooses to follow. THANK YOU! I’ll be over here making all the things and drinking all the coffee.
