5 out of 5 starsThe tie clip is just what I wanted as a gift for my partner. It seems to be a beautiful quality and just the right homemade feel but still with the finish you want when wearing with a suit. I love the hammered finish and that only this area is polished. The stamping was great too. Lovely packaging and came quickly considering the personalisation. Thank you!

4 out of 5 starsPretty. Lightweight. Unstamped. Signature required. I like the dual hammered-brushed finish, which on the teardrop has a ying-yang effect.

Frequently asked questions
The metals I work with
All items in this shop are hand made from solid metals - sterling silver (925), fine silver (999) copper and brass. BY special request, I do work in Gold.
No plated metals are ever used.
Care instructions
The metals that I work with will tarnish over time. This is a completely natural process. The rate of tarnish will vary with each individual and is dependant upon exposure to chemicals and pollutants. So, it's worth being mindful of thing like showering, applying body lotions or perfumes. The jewellery is not artificially sealed to prevent this tarnish.
To maintain your jewellery, a quick polish with a silver polishing cloth will remove any light tarnish. They aren't expensive and can be easily found online / in shops but I believe an essential addition to your jewellery collection (I even carry travel ones with me in my travel jewellery case!)!
Will copper turn my skin green?
A few people will have a reaction to sterling silver and copper which will make their skin discolour where the jewellery sits against it.
This is due to a chemical reaction with certain individuals and is unavoidable with unsealed metals. If this is a problem for you, but you want to wear these metals, you can coat the areas touching the skin with clear nail polish to create a barrier, which will prevent the discolouration from happening.
Please note, I do not add any artificial sealer to the jewellery.
Copper does tend to tarnish quicker than silver, please refer to my recommended care instructions for further advice.
Packaging
All of my orders are presented in brown natural style jewellery presentation box that is branded with my logo.
I send all orders in a structured cardboard envolope for added protection in the post.
* Pictures of how I present the orders can be found, both within the Etsy shop and on my Facebook / Instagram account.
Gift wrapping
I offer gift wrapping on all orders at an additional cost of £4.00. My personalised jewellery presentation boxes will be wrapped in a beautiful rich teal tissue paper and finished with a metallic silver ribbon that's tied with a bow. I also include gift tags to carry a handwritten message of your choice, either written by me or left blank for you add the message yourself.
Hall marking
I have a hall mark and makers mark registered with the London Assay Office. You will notice, however that not all of my jewellery designs carry a hall mark. This is because there is only a legal requirement to hall mark items made partly or exclusively of Sterling Silver (excluding the weight of any stones set) if they exceed 7.78g. Designs that are heavier than this weight are all hall marked without exception. More information on hallmarking and the legal requirements can be found https://theassayoffice.co.uk/uploads/pdfs/act-legislation.pdf

UK Postage carriers
As a result of Covid-19. I am not able to offer next day deliveries within the UK. Standard delivery is still free of charge and in most instances delivered via a contactless courier service that has a 1-2 working day delivery aim.
All items shipped are fully insured to the value you paid, you'll also be provided with a tracking reference. All deliveries require a signature, if you choose to have your parcel delivered to a safe place then insurance only covers delivery to that safe place, after which you are liable for the safety of the parcel and any potential losses. If an item is lost in the post, I am unable to replace it until an investigation has taken place with the courier.
I'm in a rush
COVID 19 UPDATE : NEXT DAY DELIVERY IS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. DELIVERY VIA COURIER TAKES 1-2 WORKING DAYS.
Each design listed has a preparation time against it to allow me time to make it prior to shipping. If you're in a rush and are looking for something specific, please get in touch directly to enquire and I'll do my best to help you. Some items I try to keep 'in stock' and make them in advance, meaning that I may be able to get it in the post quicker than the time stated.
Standard UK shipping aims are 2-4 working days, however there is a delivery 'upgrade' at additional cost for next working day delivery.
I'll offer my advice if you get in contact to work out the best delivery options to try and hit your deadlines.
Worldwide delivery
As standard, I post items for world wide delivery with Royal Mail. I choose this carrier as it allows me to send your order with full insurance, while minimising the postage costs that you pay. You'll also receive a tracking number when I confirm dispatch so that you can monitor your orders progress. I will not send anything without insurance. Sometimes carriers require a signature from the customer to confirm receipt of the package. This often happens with the higher value items and is a requirement by the couriers. If you have any questions about this please do just get in touch.
Exchanges
If you are returning an item for an exchange, the cost of returning the item is your responsibility. The cost of return postage will be charged at £7.55 and will need to be paid before the replacement item is sent.
I will not exchange goods that have been worn, do not have their original packaging or show obvious signs of abuse. In this instance, the goods will be returned to you, the buyer, at your own cost.
The item is your responsibility until it reaches Lucy Symons Jewellery. For your own protection, it's recommend that you send the parcel using a delivery service that insures you for the value of the goods. Buyers are responsible for returns that are lost or damaged in transit.
