Luke 3DP started as an experiment to develop kids’ interest in Science, Engineering, and Technology back in 2016. Over the years, the youngsters mastered advanced AutoCAD, 3D printing technology, inventory management, graphic arts, and marketing. The creativity and power of these young minds led to some complex designs and really cool products that needed to be marketed outside the school cafeteria. Hence, this ETSY shop, many commercial-quality 3D printers (more than 11), and 24/7 operation.
While the creativity came from a young child’s mind, all of the designs are guided by real design and manufacturing engineers, guaranteed to function as described. The business has observed incredible growth over the past 7 years, positioning Luke 3DP as the largest supplier of wearable watch adapters. The experiment was a huge success, producing a degreed marketing professional from the University of Iowa. The second child and founding member is studying engineering at the University of Illinois.
With huge demand increases over the years and fewer children available to manage the business, Luke 3DP has had to develop other production sources. Effective November 1, 2024, the team is moving their operation to a new location with more space to accommodate both 3D-printed and injection-molded products. Luke 3DP is excited to expand their operations and finally meet the large demand observed in 2024. Luke 3DP has already subjected this new source to rigorous quality testing and received more than 3,000 perfect reviews on other seller platforms.
While this new source of material is China-based, Luke 3DP will continue to enable customers to purchase the 3D-printed items produced in the Illinois facility.
