How Lulu's Collection Came To Be
I was born in London, England and moved to France when I was in my early twenties. I love to create, to be inspired by wonderful things around me. I love the Victorian era, I love the palace of Versailles, I love detail, I love pink roses and I love white paint. In short, I guess shabby chic is my style and as far back as I can remember it always has been.
I came to Canada in 2003 when I began a career as a cake designer and made hundreds and hundreds of custom designed wedding and celebration cakes specializing in the floral vintage style.
Three years ago I began to have back problems and as the months progressed became less and less able to keep up with the heavy lifting that running a bakery and tea shop requires. It was discovered that my pain was more serious than I had thought and I find myself. for much of the time, lying flat wondering what to do with my time.
So, I rekindled my passion for sewing and lace making and began making yards and yards of lace and now it's time to re-open my Etsy Shop and share my creations with the world.
When I was a little girl my grandmother had a piece of lace that she cut from an old table cloth that someone gave her when she was a little girl. For years I worked at teaching myself how to crochet so that I could copy that piece of Victorian lace. Most of my work is based on that piece of table cloth (alas lost in my trips back and forth across the ocean).
I hope that my customers will enjoy my work as much as I have enjoyed making each stitch, every inch, every foot....every mile, along with all my other hand made items, vintage trims and whatever else I have in my store at any given time.
