Our Story
MEK Design began in 2023, at a moment when my fiancé and I were searching for the perfect chairs for our dining table. We quickly discovered that finding beautifully made, comfortable and customisable furniture was far more difficult than it should be. Most chairs looked lovely but felt uncomfortable; others couldn’t be personalised at all. It was frustrating — and it sparked an idea that changed everything.
If we couldn’t find the chairs we dreamed of, we would make them ourselves.
We wanted to create furniture that people could truly make their own:
with a wide choice of fabrics and colours,
with different wood finishes,
with comfort at the heart of every design.
Our first workshop was a tiny rented garage in Buckinghamshire, where we produced one or two orders at a time. Every piece was made by hand, slowly and carefully, with the same dedication we still hold today.
From those humble beginnings, MEK Design has grown into a workshop that now creates dining tables, armchairs, bar stools, living‑room furniture and, of course, our signature chairs — the collection we are most proud of. We now ship across Europe, and our chairs are known for their comfort, thanks to pocket‑spring seating, and for their timeless, handcrafted quality.
