Apparently, when I decide to do something crazy, nobody stops me.
Hi! I'm Evy and I created MENORNAMENTS ... "Jewery" for Your Interfaith Tree. Here's how it happened:
In December 2011, I saw a menorah ornament adorning a friend's holiday tree, and I immediately dubbed it a menornament, and I thought that was pretty funny.
I told some of my friends, and they thought it was pretty clever, too. Then I told my artist friend Ed that I might do something with the name, and she said, "I love it. I have a logo for you already." Ed is pretty darn talented, so I thought that if she designed my logo and packaging, people might buy the ornaments that I'd make. We also decided to design a bunch of greeting cards together.
Then I thought that I should find access to a kiln and find out how much that would cost. So I went to my local paint your own pottery place, Color Me Happy, and they said that I could buy the clay from them and make the ornaments right there using their kiln and their paints. And I was like, "That's so totally affordable!" And they were like, "I know!" And I was like, "I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm gonna make this happen!" Because, you know, like most of us I have a lot of spare time to start another business.
Another business you ask? Why, yes, I'm self employed as a professional puppeteer.
I could tell you my whole life story, but here's the relevant part. I'm Jewish, my husband is not Jewish, and our son has a Chanukah Elf named Rachel whom he mostly still believes is magical. We live in Brunswick, GA near the ocean; it's a great town with great people who have been extra supportive of my new venture.
MENORNAMENTS are hand made and hand painted. Please support local artists! Without us, you would all look a little bit crazy.
