Welcome to Melander Taylor Composes, my one-woman creative studio in Massachusetts, where Jamaican heritage meets the understated elegance of coastal New England.
An English major and self-proclaimed typography nerd, I've always believed that a font is more than text on a page—it's structural art, history, and the perfect outfit for a meaningful story.
After a career devoted to supporting others in special education, senior living, and children's services, a serious illness unexpectedly changed my path. During that difficult chapter, my husband reminded me of a dream I'd always carried: starting my own creative business. With his love and encouragement, Melander Taylor Composes was born.
Today, I create hand-poured candles, botanical gifts, artful paper goods, and thoughtful details for celebrations and everyday living. I also host creative gatherings that bring people together through the joy of making.
To me, composing is the art of bringing individual elements together with intention—whether a fragrance, a flower, a celebration, or a story.
What began as an unexpected new chapter has become a beautiful way to continue creating joy for others.
