The online shop was born in 2012 when I (Nina) began selling vintage handbags clothing and accessories on Etsy while I was living in Los Angeles. Fast forward to 2022 when my best friend, Melissa, and I decided to open a vintage storefront. Our love for thrifting and antiquing led to collecting and planning events such as weddings and showers and our joint adventure in vintage selling began with outdoor popup markets and a booth at a local antique market.

(Nina) My love for vintage grew from outings with my parents who would often take us to antique shops in small towns on the weekend. One of my favorites was a dusty jewelry store with creaky wooden floorboards and glass display cases filled with magnificent sparkly gems. That love for antiques stuck, and it grew as I got older.

Why Madame Saint Vintage?
We kept the name of Nina's online shop for the brick and mortar. Here's the story of how that name came about. I (Nina) played around with names for months, inking ideas in a notebook, crossing parts out, and rearranging the pieces. While reading Ami McKay’s “Witches of New York”, I fell in love a character’s mother, Madame St. Clair, a spirit to be invoked in times of need. It was a name I jotted down in my book of ideas, and from there it evolved. Raised Catholic, I’ve always had a fascination with the saints, especially the females and their stories. The saints are prevailed upon to offer divine intervention in earthly events. Pray to St. Anthony to find a lost object. Bury St. Joseph upside down to sell your house. Call upon St. Christopher for a safe journey. Melissa has luckily adopted Madame Saint Vintage is her little invented patroness, too, helping us manifest amazing vintage finds.
