Lexi
After university (studying Textile Design) I started making and listing jewellery etc. on Etsy while I applied for jobs. I decided to call my shop 'Made In The Forest' as the home where I grew up in Somerset is right next to some beautiful woods. And I love the themes of fantasy and nature that the word forest suggests to me. The wolf hood was popular so I branched out into more animals, more hats, then tails too. Soon, after sales kicked off, I realised I didn’t want an office fashion design job anyway! I took a part time seamstress job in Bristol for about 8 months until I was earning more from Made In The Forest, and I was able to quit! I have loved being my own boss ever since.
Music festivals are the best part of my year. I love to dress up in crazy sparkly outfits, and now my shop enables others to do the same. I love animals, and most of my costumes are animal related, I always look at real animals for inspiration to make my creations as lifelike as possible. I am vegetarian too, so obviously would never real fur, leather or suede in my items.
