About Made with Loops
Heike Gittins is a Designer Maker and Workshop Tutor based in Ruthin, North Wales. Since her childhood in Germany she has had a keen love for all things textile, being taught at 8 years old to knit and crochet by her two grandmothers.
Living in the heart of the Clwydian Range, Heike draws her inspiration from the landscape and the ever changing weather and light in the Welsh mountains.
Her studio looks out upon rolling hills, upland pastures and a patchwork of alternating green fields, heather, bracken and woodland. Her deep love of nature and an hourly appreciation of how sun, light and cloud can transform the most gloomy winters day into something quite breathtaking, she is never short of inspiration.
Heike works with natural yarns, mostly hand-dyed by small Indie dyers and enjoys the complete process from inspiration to finished design.
