We accept pretty much all methods of payment (excl camels, bitcoins and gold bars [though we could make an exception for the gold bars]).

Shipping

Orders are are processed the day they are received (to 10PM) so that we can get them to you as quickly as possible.
Every book is custom made in the United Kingdom, then printed and bound ready for dispatch. Delivery times as follows:
* UK - orders will typically be processed, printed and delivered within 5 - 7 days
* Rest Of the World - orders will typically be processed, printed and delivered within 10 - 14 days
* Express delivery - will typically reduce delivery times by 1 day for UK and 2 days for Rest of the World
We always aim to get your book to you as fast as possible with the norm being towards the smaller number of days in the range - but most importantly we wouldn't want to disappoint young children so please allow a couple of days contingency if it is for a special event.

How do I know what my book will look like?

Please don't just take our word for it. You can create a full book preview in about 10 seconds on our web site at: https://behindthemagicdoor.com just copy the URL into your browser or search for "Behind the Magic Door". A very easy 'try before you buy'!

What about shorter names?

We've got this covered. The smallest name we accept is 3 characters and books with either 3 or 4 characters get a bonus section to ensure that the story remains well proportioned and ideal as a bedtime story (see your book preview on our web site at: https://behindthemagicdoor.com )

How are the books personalised?

Our books offer enhanced personalisation like no other!

Here's what we do:
1. Child's name appears on the front cover
2. You can add your own personal dedication that features on the first page (up to 400 letters spread over up to 10 lines)
3. Pick the adventurer that looks most like your child (3 hair and skin colour options)
4. Each character that your child meets rewards them with a coin with a letter on eg the Lion gifts the letter 'L', the Elephant an 'E' etc to spell out your child's name. This means that each book is unique to your child.
5. The magical finale - your Child's name appears on the Magic Door for the big reveal to 'open' the door and return home.

Can I have the book gift wrapped

Absolutely. We have created our very own "Behind the Magic Door" gift wrap with all of our favourite characters on. Ideal for when your gift is going straight to the recipient to make it extra special.

To get your book gift wrapped simply add the gift wrap option from our shop for only £2.99 and we will make sure that it is professionally wrapped ready for dispatch.

Is this book suitable for babies and very young children?

The book that keeps giving... from birth to about age 8.
* 0-1 mum & dad read to baby
* 1-2 baby becomes interested in the pictures and colours. Mum & dad describe what baby can see
* 2+ your child starts to understand that the book is about them (this really does add to the fun!) and they will enjoy trying to find the hidden Shadow King on each 2 page spread while mum & dad read the story
* 3+ - your child starts remembering the repeated paragraph and says it out loud with you as you read
* 4+ can be used for fun as well as assisted reading to help your child learn to read
* 5++ hoping mum & dad still enjoy reading the book for a while yet but you should also see more of your child reading by themselves
* Older - beautiful keepsake

Do you include the receipt or pricing information with the book?

No - we recognise that our books are nearly always bought as gifts and often sent directly to the recipient so we never include a receipt or pricing details in the packaging.

All you need by way of pricing details for your records, is kept electronically by Etsy.

What are your Christmas 2022 Shipping Dates?

***Royal Mail strikes continue to cause disruption to deliveries. It takes 2 working days to create each book and we ship promptly. Please check latest guidance before ordering if you are unsure.

We use Royal Mail for our deliveries (the biggest delivery service in the UK). Our LAST dates for accepting orders for Christmas delivery as follows:
* UK Orders - Received by/on Sun 18th Dec
* US - Received by/on Wed 7th Dec
* Canada - received by/on Wed 7th Dec
* Australia/New Zealand - Received by/on Mon 28th Nov

We recommend incl contingency when able. We process orders same day but cannot "guarantee" Christmas delivery.
