Magus Effects comenzó su vida como un pequeño negocio en casa, que se ocupa del retoque fotográfico y la restauración. En aquel entonces, las cosas como Photoshop y otros programas de edición de fotos no existían. Todo se hizo con lápices de colores y fotografía. La mayor parte del trabajo fue retocar fotos de bodas.

Pronto comenzaron las solicitudes de edición de video, seguidas de solicitudes para que tomáramos las fotos y grabáramos las cámaras de video para bodas y otros eventos. Como teníamos un presupuesto reducido, necesitábamos aprender a reparar las cosas que podíamos. Esto no solo incluía nuestros artículos y equipo, sino también todo, desde una rasgadura en una bata o esmoquin hasta una pata de mesa rota. Más de una vez, logramos salvar un evento porque teníamos algunos rollos adicionales de cinta adhesiva, súper pegamento o aguja e hilo.

Esto nos llevó a hacer nuestros propios accesorios para fondos y sesiones de fotos. Pronto la gente nos preguntaba de dónde sacamos este artículo o esa silla, y tuvimos que explicar que él mismo los hizo para los rodajes. No pasó mucho tiempo antes de que alguien pidiera comprar una de las sillas. No vimos ninguna razón por la que no y se llegó a un acuerdo. A la semana siguiente, la persona regresó y pidió 3 más para su set de comedor.

Afortunadamente, la tecnología había hecho varios avances. Pudimos reducir el tamaño del laboratorio fotográfico y la mayor parte del estudio, gracias a Photoshop. Esto nos permitió tener una tienda para la fabricación. A medida que la tecnología cambió y avanzó, también lo hizo nuestro pequeño negocio. Todo el tiempo, manteniéndolo pequeño y simple.

Ahora, con la era digital en pleno apogeo y convirtiéndose en parte de nuestras vidas de todas las maneras posibles, nosotros también estamos evolucionando. Ahora nos centramos principalmente en mantener nuestro trabajo en forma digital. Todavía tenemos una tienda, pero ahora, es más computadora y máquinas CNC que las viejas herramientas eléctricas con cada accesorio conocido por el hombre. A pesar de que todavía usamos la tienda, ya no es agotadora o intensiva en mano de obra.

Así que querido lector, esperamos que haya disfrutado de nuestro pequeño viaje por el carril de la memoria. También esperamos que haya sido educativo y entretenido como mínimo. Le pedimos que se sienta libre de echar un vistazo a su alrededor y no tenga miedo de hacer ninguna pregunta en caso de que tenga alguna. Prometo que no mordemos... mucho.

Magus Effects first started its life as a small, at home business, dealing with photo retouching and restoration. Back then the things like Photoshop and other photo editing programs did not exist. It was all done with colored pencils and photography. Most of the work was retouching wedding photos.

Soon requests for video editing started followed by requests for us to take the photos and shoot the video cameras for weddings and other events. As we were on a shoestring budget, we needed to learn to repair what things we could. This not only included our items, and equipment but also everything from a rip in a gown or tux to a broken table leg. More than once, we managed to save an event because we had a few extra rolls of duct tape, super glue or needle and thread.

This lead to us making our own props for backgrounds and photoshoots. Soon people were asking us where we got this item or that chair, and we had to explain that he made them ourselves for the shoots. It wasn’t long before someone asked to buy one of the chairs. We saw no reason why not and a deal was struck. The next week the person came back and asked for 3 more for their dining room set.

Thankfully technology had made several advances. WE were able to downsize the photo lab and most of the studio, thanks to Photoshop. This allowed us to have a shop for fabrication. As technology changed and advanced so did our little business. All the time, keeping it small and simple.

Now with the digital age in full swing and becoming a part of our lives in every possible way, we too are evolving. Now we mainly focus on keeping our work in a digital form. We still have a shop, but now, it is more computer and CNC machines than the old power tools with every attachment known to man. Even though we still use the shop, it is no longer back breaking or labor intensive.
