Welcome to BUTTER! With a focus on sustainable materials and methods, and an emphasis on color and pattern, each item is made one at a time with love.
BUTTER is a one-woman show, run from a studio in the back of my Austin, Texas home. My days are spent sewing, dreaming up new projects, experimenting with materials and processes, and the business side of, well, running a small business. I've been making things for as long as I can remember, and was enamored with handmade things from a very small age - from the clothes my mom and grandmother made, to the wooden toys and objects made by my father, grandfathers and neighbors. I went to art school for furniture design, and after years of designing furniture for mass production I decided to get back to my roots. I love starting with raw materials and an idea, and creating useful and beautiful objects.
I still work as a freelance furniture designer on the side, and occasionally work on large-scale installations. I've met some amazing artists and designers along my (very meandering) career path and love the energy that comes from collaborative projects.
