Celebrating Life One Stitch at a Time
All my friends keep telling me I should open a shop and sew for a living and after hearing it for years the opportunity presented itself and I took a chance and started Mama Jean's Kind Threads. It was important to me that I stay true to my heart and create one of a kind item. I want people to know that no one else will every have the exact item, I may create similar but no two are ever alike.
I also decided if I was going to do this I was going to sew what I love and I love Day of the Dead. I think the idea of our loved ones having a party on the other side is perfect and honoring them in the process, how can you loose? I also love skulls, skeletons and pirates. In fact, my kids use to hate when I would find a bone in the woods and bring it home and place on the mantle. They called it the shelf of death, I called it cool. Still do.
I have a studio in my home and love it. I can wake early and sew or stay up all night. My quilting frame is in my basement and all in all, I'd say I have a pretty good set up. I can putter in the yard for a break, pick a few raspberries make jam and still finish a quilt before bed.
I hope to continue to grow my line of products featuring Day of the Dead, Skulls, Skeletons and Pirates. I love making quilts and have created hot pads, tote bags and this year; I'm starting a line of Men’s shirts featuring images that anyone would die to have.... Zombies, Skulls, Skeletons you get the idea.
I also love creating custom clothes for people. A bit of this and that and you too can create your own style and rock the fashion world being an original.
