Recycled Sounds è un progetto che si è sviluppato dall'interesse del percussionista di fama mondiale Dendê Macêdo nel realizzare strumenti con materiali trovati. Nel corso degli anni ha creato una miniera di strumenti tra cui un secchio shekere, una mazza da golf berimbau, un tamburo di pneumatici e un rullante bidone della spazzatura che è stato incorporato in una linea di strumenti prodotti da Latin Percussion.

Dendê iniziò a registrarsi suonando i suoi strumenti e alla fine iniziò a lavorare con un pedale loop che gli permise di registrare brevi pezzi di ogni strumento che avrebbero pedalato, permettendogli di stratificare ciascuno degli strumenti mentre si esibiva dal vivo.

L'ovvia connessione con la pratica sostenibile è stato un elemento che ha iniziato a incorporare nelle sue performance per poter trasmettere un messaggio importante sul nostro ambiente. Il canale per questo messaggio è una performance stravagante su un gruppo di strumenti dall'aspetto selvaggio che producono alcuni suoni interessanti e distintivi.

Recycled Sounds is a project that developed out of world renowned percussionist Dendê Macêdo’s interest in making instruments out of found materials. Over the years he has created a trove of instruments including a bucket shekere, a golf club berimbau, a tire drum, and a trash can snare drum that was incorporated into a line of instruments manufactured by Latin Percussion.

Dendê began recording himself playing his instruments and ultimately began working with a loop pedal which enabled him to record short pieces of each instrument that would cycle, enabling him to layer each of the instruments while performing live.

The obvious connection to sustainable practice was an element that he began to incorporate into his performances in order to be able to transmit an important message about our environment. The conduit for this message is a wacky performance on a bunch of wild looking instruments that make some interesting and distinctive sounds.
