2D artist discovers the wonderful world of 3D art!
I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. Let's just say that my artistic talents began to emerge when I was able to hold a crayon in my hand...and not eat it!
My single minded passion was animals and nature.I was a tomboy and a bookworm and my favorite summer pastime was to climb up high in a tree and read while swaying in the breeze.
I lived by a lake in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for a few years and every day was a feast for the eyes. Surrounded by mountains and aspen...and plenty of snow!
I moved back to Missouri, married and started a family. My art was forgotten for many years but as my babies grew up I began to draw and paint again.
I discovered ACEO (artists cards editions and originals) and began collecting art from artists all over the world. It was an obsession! One day it occurred to me that I may be able to make and sell my own art. (mainly to fund my new habit lol)
A fellow artist told me about Etsy and I opened up a shop right away. I was thrilled when my first piece sold! I began to sell more and more but my purchases still outweighed my sales. XD
Searching on Etsy I kept coming across a medium called polymer clay. I did a search on the web to see exactly what it was and when I found out it was a clay that did not need a kiln I was immediately intrigued. I purchased a few colors and fumbled around with it. My first few 'creations' were borderline disasters haha! I kept at it and slowly began to develop a style of my own.
They say you should create what you love and that is exactly what I do. :) I never really start out with a plan. I may have a vague idea or maybe a cool little trinket or stone that I found and that is where it starts. I get lost in my work and watch as it emerges before me. Time passes and hours go by quickly.
Every single piece I make is an original one of a kind that you will not find anywhere else. My work is a labor of love made with great care and my love of nature seems to express itself in each and every thing I do.
