As with all Mantua Maker patterns, there are LOTS of instructions and help in fitting your garment perfectly. I made the asymmetric overlay version with a shortened back peplum and fuller upper sleeves (for an 1890s version) and am very happy with the results.

Ramblings of a Mantua-Maker

In 1986 my boyfriend took me to BayCon and my first costume contest. I've been addicted to costuming ever since. My boyfriend married someone else (a wonderful woman), and I 'married' my sewing and craft room. ;-)

My costumes -- historic and fantastic -- have won awards at Costume Con, organized by the International Costuming Guild, WesterCon, BayCon, and WorldCon.

I create sewing patterns for historical clothing from the skin out - underwear, corsets, skirts, and bodices. It seems important to me that we remember how clothes used to be made, especially because clothing has changed so much, from the cloth to the styles we choose.

All Mantua-Maker patterns are designed, drawn, and written by me, then printed in small batches by local print shops.
