Hi, I’m Bethany—former teacher, accidental homesteader, and the creative mind behind Maple & Hen! My journey started in the middle school classroom, where I quickly learned that teaching is equal parts education and survival. When I stepped away to stay home with my kids, I picked up photography and fell in love with Photoshop (because let’s be honest, editing out chaos is a life skill and frankly, I enjoyed the challenge). Photography gave me the flexibility I needed—until COVID shut everything down and I had to pivot, fast. To make ends meet, I launched an e-commerce shop, starting with apparel. But before long, I found myself right back where I belonged—creating classroom resources, bulletin boards, and decor that help teachers transform their spaces. What started as a necessity quickly became a passion, and before I knew it, I was back in my happy place—helping teachers.
Now, I design engaging, visually stunning resources that make classrooms and people shine. Whether it’s a bulletin board that sparks curiosity, a set of posters that make history come alive, or decor that turns a classroom into a space students love, my goal is to save teachers time while making their walls the envy of the school. I also love designing apparel and home decor to spark that little "extra" in your day.
When I’m not designing, I’m pretending to run a mini farm on our five acres. I tap maple trees on our property, our hens keep us stocked with fresh eggs, and my sourdough starter makes me look like a superhero to my kids and husband (even though it’s literally just flour and water!). We also have an energetic Vizsla and three farm cats who roam around as the wind blows.
At the end of the day, I believe education should open students’ eyes to a world bigger than their own—and I love creating resources that help teachers do just that. So, if you’re ready to level up your classroom decor and make learning more engaging, I’ve got just the thing for you!

Frequently asked questions
Sizing details
• Most adult apparel is offered in unisex sizing unless otherwise noted in the individual listing. Please refer to the size chart included in the listing photos for measurements specific to the item you're purchasing.
• For the best fit, we recommend measuring a similar item you already own and comparing those measurements with the size chart. Garment width is measured with the item laid flat from side to side.
• Some garments are pre-shrunk, but slight shrinkage may still occur with washing and drying.
• Because our apparel is made to order, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for sizing or fit. Please review the size chart carefully before ordering.
Care instructions
To help your apparel look its best:
• Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors
• Tumble dry low or hang dry when possible
• Do not bleach
• Do not iron directly over the printed design
• Do not dry clean
Always refer to any product-specific care instructions included in the listing.
Returns/Exchanges & Order Cancellations
Most physical products in our shop are made to order specifically for each customer. Because production may begin shortly after an order is placed, cancellations cannot be guaranteed once an order has entered production.
Made-to-order and personalized items are not eligible for returns or exchanges for reasons such as sizing, fit, color preference, or a change of mind. Please review all listing details, size charts, personalization information, and shipping estimates carefully before ordering.
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible with photos of the item and packaging so we can review the issue and make it right.
Damaged or Defective Items
We want you to be happy with the quality of your order. If an item arrives damaged, has a printing defect, or develops an unusual print issue shortly after its first washes when the provided care instructions have been followed, please contact us within 30 days of delivery.
Please include clear photos showing the entire item as well as the affected area. Once we've reviewed the issue, we'll work with you on an appropriate resolution.
Normal wear, damage caused by improper care, and issues unrelated to a manufacturing or printing defect are not considered product defects.
Shipping Issues
Once your order ships, tracking will be available through Etsy. If tracking shows delivered but you cannot locate your package, please check with household members, neighbors, and the shipping carrier.
Please double-check your shipping address before ordering. We cannot be responsible for incorrect or undeliverable addresses, and additional shipping charges may apply if an order needs to be reshipped.
If tracking stops updating or you believe your package may be lost, please contact us and we'll be happy to help determine the next step. Carrier and customs delays may occasionally occur and are outside of our control.
Printing Partner
Every Maple & Hen design is created and prepared by our shop in New York. For select physical products, we work with professional production partners who print or manufacture our designs and ship the finished products directly to our customers.
Because some products ship directly from a production facility, the shipping origin shown on your tracking may be different from our shop's location in New York. Our production partners are disclosed on applicable Etsy listings in accordance with Etsy's requirements.
Gift messages and special packaging may not be available for products fulfilled by a production partner. Please feel free to contact us before ordering if you have questions about a particular item.
Digital Products
Digital listings are instant-access/downloadable products; no physical item will be mailed. Please read the individual listing carefully to see exactly what files are included.
Digital resources are for personal or single-classroom use unless otherwise stated and may not be shared, redistributed, resold, or used commercially. Due to the nature of digital products, returns and exchanges are not accepted after purchase.
