Working with Glass

Creating one of my fused Glass cabochons in my home studio may be an art however it’s equally a science which reveals a surprise at every stage.

After selecting the desired glass its cut, and to achieve dimension and depth layered according to the design. Next the pieces of glass are slowly melted together in a kiln reaching as much as 1500 degrees then cooled very slowly to stabilize it, taking up to 12 hours or more. At this point it comes out of the kiln and may need to be perfected by cutting, shaping or even adding more glass, then back into the kiln it goes.

This process may need to be repeated several time before that very gratifying and sometimes amazing final piece of art emerges, no two will ever be exactly the same.

My Cabochons are versatile and durable and would work well in any design you can dream of.
