Purveyor of Tales (and Tails)
The Marie Young Creative studio was born in 2009 out of a need to find an outlet for my creative urges.
My work is inspired by art history, vintage finds, nature, and occasionally the offbeat. I love to explore contrast: light and dark, good and evil, urban and rural, sweet and naughty. Like my art, I am filled with sugar and spice, blended with a little of the unexpected.
I inherited my love for creating from my mom. She encouraged my sister and me to play with everything. Her only rule was don't cut paper with the fabric scissors. I started to evolve that love of "technique-based" crafting through artistic discovery.
I loved studying art so much that I chose art history as my major in college. When I told my family about my choice of major, my father not-so-politely asked, "What in the Hell can you do with that?" Well, I found that I can channel inspiration from the past, adding my own funky twist, to create original projects.
