Welcome to Marie’s Essentials! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to share with you a little bit about myself and my journey to joining the Etsy family.
I enthusiastically opened my shop in early 2020 but closed it for several months to help manage through a difficult time. I used that time to rework some of the ideas for my shop and to offer my customers something prettier in the labelling along with a larger selection that I'm continuously working on.
Now to share with you a little bit about myself and how I got here. After years of living the fast-paced corporate lifestyle, I wanted and needed to delve into my creative side. It's where I truly find my JOY! I loved the idea of creating something simple, as natural and as safe as possible, but still uniquely me. I started out making decorative soaps by hand using essential oils and safe fragrances to capture the feeling of home. Soon friends and family were not only complimenting my creations, but began requesting some for themselves. Some members of the family with skin problems were saying these homemade items were making a difference. Taken by surprise at the feedback from them, I was inspired to go a step further and do something I love for the people I love.
In time, I realized I might have something to share with more than just close family and friends when they wanted to share my products as gifts. This is how Marie's Essentials was born. I chose that name because I loved the ME initials and the yourMEtime concept, knowing you really can't take care of others without taking the time to care for yourself. My experience from working all those years and not allowing myself time to sit back, relax, and unwind - spoil myself a little - took its toll on me. I retired early and needed to create, to find my joy again, but I also wanted to encourage others to take the time out to care for themselves and encourage others they knew to do the same.
Getting here has been a wonderful and creative journey with years of research. However, I could not have done this without the amazing crafting community who so generously shared the information I needed to create these products. Their gift for sharing has so inspired me and I could never thank them enough.
The way I envision selling my products is “If it speaks to you it's yours". If you enjoy the design, the feel, or the fragrance and it makes you stop for a moment I have done what I intended. Maybe not the best marketing strategy, but it's how I make a purchase myself.
