I’ve been a crafter an artist since I was a child. Over the past two years I’ve primarily sold my creations in person at markets. I decided to move to Etsy to expand my small business further. Being an art therapy student, I have skill and experience with many different art mediums. Ceramics has always been one of my favorites and pottery one of my top selling items at market. I love ceramic art because so much of it is functional art. I think there is something special about creating beautiful things for everyday use. Even though this shop, for now, will not be selling any of my ceramic work, I am inspired by curating art that can be used rather that is being worn or in the home.
Much of both my 2D and 3D art contains imagery of plants. I’ve probably made hundreds of ceramic roses in my years of working with clay. Therefore, it was important for me to carry over floral designs into my jewelry. To me flowers and plants aren’t just something lovely to look at but also contain much metaphor and symbolism (did I mention I’m almost an art therapist??). I think botanical imagery can represent many things but I’ve personally used it in my art to represent life, growth, and resiliency.
