The story of Marok Luxe starts from Agadir, the city which is at the centre of the Lands of Argan, the “Liquid Gold” of MOROCCO (MAROC).
This ancient Berber city is the focal point of the Argan oil industry, the main city in this Souss Region of Southern Morocco. The Argan tree grows in this region only, unique and ubiquitous in this land, almost impossible to grow elsewhere.
Our team is based here, a family-based enterprise which proudly claims ancestral roots to the land. It is not for no reason that so many people have fallen in love with Agadir and it’s beautiful riches. The surrounding Moroccan desert, Agadir’s serene year-round weather, it’s beaches and it’s location on the Atlantic, the wonderful and delicious food, and the captivating music and culture - all these combine to draw one in and capture one’s heart. In this tradition-bound and rich cultural crossroads of history, various traders, merchants, invaders, defenders, preachers and rulers of all sorts and hues have come over time to create a rich culture underpinned by the traditions of the Berbers. Central to these traditions – especially for the women – are the rituals of beauty and skincare.
The Argan nut and its oil have always played a central role in the traditional beauty rituals of the Berber women, which has only recently been recognised as an amazing truly natural beauty skincare product. From the picking and collecting of the Argan nuts to its peeling and crushing, all the steps are carried out by hand, by local women in women-run cooperatives, in a time-honoured traditional way.
The Moroccan Hammam ritual, the Moroccan hot traditional spa, is a deep cleansing hot soak, from head to toe, which leaves you with soft, glowing and tender baby-like skin.
Primary ingredients include the traditional black soap – made from olive oils and olive pulp – a Kessa cleaning mitt, and various local clays, rose water and argan and prickly pear oils to follow and complete the pampering treatment.
And the surprising thing is that all these great components are purely natural, organic for the most part, and local – earth’s natural gifts from the land of Morocco.
