Martamaps' story
Martamaps is a series of plastic-free board games based on maps of Cornish towns. The game aims to reach a specific landmark on the map first and during the race, the players will be introduced to Cornish life, visiting the iconic sights and facing fun and interactive challenges to move forward.
Martamaps project started during the National lockdown; I missed travelling or even just strolling around town, so I started to sketch the main landmarks and sights of Falmouth, such as The Princess Pavilion, the Art Gallery and Gilly beach. Designing a map of my town, helped my mental health as I could virtually escape during that challenging time. Later on, the map evolved into a family board game and I started designing other places I love in Cornwall... my business was born!
My name is Marta, I am a graphic designer and I’ve always lived by the water. I was born in Sicily, studied in Venice and moved to Cornwall in 2014, where I fell in love with this place. I always loved maps as they make you aware of where you are, where you’ve been and where you want to go next!
