Welcome to Maxwell Lane Designs for Dogs!
My name is Kat, and I used to be a cat person... until living on my own and suffering from chronic depression and the early symptoms of what I now know to be Fibromyalgia led me to think I'd be happier with a four-legged roommate. But cats can be so aloof and moody, so I decided on a dog. Fast forward to July 6, 2013, and I was bringing home a four-month-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Maxwell (Max). Despite having some anxiety issues of his own (which has required all kinds of special training, daily medication, etc.), he warmed right up to me, and I have been his person ever since, and we have helped each other to work through some of our hardest times.
At some point, I noticed how much happier Max seemed when we would go visit my parents and their dog, so he could spend time with a canine playmate. Max has always enjoyed playing with dogs more than humans--for no lack of trying on my part! He'll play tug-o-war with another dog for hours, but I can only keep his attention with a game for a few minutes. In February, someone in a Facebook Corgi rescue group posted a link to a dog in the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor, MI--and on the February 13, 2015, we went to meet Penny, and she and Max hit it off instantly, and the rest, as they say, is history! Penny (I made her full name "Penny Lane") is a mix of some sort--she was listed as a Corgi mix, but I'm not so sure about that. At any rate, she's very playful and very sweet, and she and Max are the best of friends.
"Maxwell Lane" is a sort of portmanteau of my two dogs' names.
Through my dogs, I have had so many new experiences and made so many new connections! I also love making bandanas and toys for them, and decided I would love to share some of my creations with the rest of the world--I hope you will love them just as much as Maxwell, Penny, and I do!
