"Healthy, Happy, Creative"
“I believe everyone should be able to treat themselves to luxury gourmet soap and skincare. Every. Single. Day!
It delights your senses, lifts your mood, and most importantly it feels great for the skin. It’s a daily treat for the skin without nasty ingredients.
I believe soap can be both artistic and beneficial for your skin.
That’s why I love creating”
Hi there! My name is Victoria and I am the owner of Maylilly Soaps & Bath Treats. I make handmade soaps, bath bombs, bath truffle melts and sugar scrubs.
I live in a coastal town south of Sydney, Australia with my husband and two beautiful daughters Lilly (4) and Zoe (2), and our 2 cats Ollie and Deanie.
I opened Maylilly Soaps January 2014. I attended some amazing handmade markets and met some amazing customers. However, 2014 wasn’t so good in terms of my health. Recurring sinus issues and colds always under the weather, run down, stiff and sore, and extremely fatigued.
This year, I promised myself I would turn my health around!
I have began eating nourishing foods; kale, chia seeds, anti-oxdidant enriched smoothies, and less bread. More fruit, more vegies and more water. I have got back into pilates and yoga, and doing a bit of cardio everyday.
I have just started practicing meditation to de-stress and calm my mind. I recently realised that I harbour a lot of anxiety for someone who doesn’t have a lot to be anxious about. I take it out on my loved ones which isn’t fair of me huh?
I believe that the healthier I am, the happier I will be, and who knows what creativity will flow from it.
Now to how my obsession with soap started…
One day back in 2009 I stumbled upon a website that was all about making soaps, skincare and bath treats. The idea of creating my own products was incredibly exciting and I was especially intrigued with the soapmaking side of things, so I ordered a melt and pour kit. I seemed to have a knack at layering and found it to be rather rewarding, and I wanted to move onto cold process soapmaking.
I had a little bit of a break (whilst planning a wedding, building a house and 2 pregnancies), but that didn’t stop me watching my fave soapmakers on YouTube, or reading blog after blog. I was finally able to get back into soaps and bath treats late last 2012. The love was still there.
I took the plunge at the start of 2013 and made my first cold process soap. I love the look of raw soap and of freshly swirled soap. I love creating designs, and piping soap, and soap cupcakes. My dream is to one day have a purpose built soapmaking room with its own kitchen and curing area.
I guess you could say I am little bit obsessed with soap.
