30+ years later, it's time to pull everything out of storage, dust it off and see if anybody out there wants this stuff anymore.
Meathead Records started around 1989 - 1990 by the guys in the hardcore punk band Headcramp from Thunder Bay, Canada. The band broke up in 1998, but the label carried on until about 2002.
Since Thunder Bay is the mid point of Canada and an 8 hour drive to Winnipeg one way, and a 14 hour drive to Toronto the other way, touring bands would always stop here to play a show, even if meant playing to a small crowd. This was one of the reasons Northern Ontario had a great 'scene' back in the 90's.
This resulted in Headcramp, and other local bands sharing the stage with The Offspring, The Misfits, No Means No, DOA and countless other 'big' bands. Napalm Death played a show here in a club that could barely hold 100 people. Green Day played a show here in 1990 to a crowd of 30 people. Several days a week for the better part of a decade, every punk, metal, Indie and alternative band that was on tour in Canada, stopped in our small town and either played a show or hung out. I sat with Jerry from the Misfits at the Husky as he ate oatmeal and told stories. Joe Shithead from DOA had many stories! So many stories....
Anywho, Meathead Records not only made tapes and CD's for the bands on its roster, it also bought, traded and distributed all kinds of cassettes, zines, demos, CD's and vinyl records from other bands, labels, and distributors that came through town.

Beware! Back in the day only a few bands had the skills to make good recordings. Nobody had any money. Bands would record with one microphone, use cassette tapes in 4-track machines as a 'studio' and print artwork using a photocopier. DIY was not an ethic - we had no choice!
This shop sells a mix of Meathead Records own releases (see discogs) plus stuff that was bought, traded, and adopted from all over. Stuff for sale here is from 1 of 3 categories:
1. Cassettes, CD's, vinyl and other merch that was manufactured by Meathead Records for our own label: Stuff like the box sets, The Dinks, Headcramp, some other bands and a few compilation tapes and CD's. This stuff is mostly 'old new stock' (90's or early 2000's), original, and will have the meathead records logo on it somewhere (usually).
2. Cassettes, CD's, Vinyl, and other merch from back in the day that we were distributing for other bands and labels. Plus stuff that we bought in bulk, traded for, or was given to us in order to resell or give away at shows etc.
3. Cassettes, CD's, vinyl, and other merch from my own personal collection.
