Calligraphy is a meditation in motion.
My calligraphy journey began in 2016, when I discovered Zen and the Art of Calligraphy: The Essence of Sho. Later, I was deeply inspired by the calligraphy of Thích Nhất Hạnh, whose gentle strokes and mindful presence revealed to me the spirit of true art — where writing becomes meditation.
Guided by both Japanese and Vietnamese traditions, I’ve found my own path: blending the quiet grace of Eastern calligraphy with the simplicity and modern elegance of the West. Through this harmony, I seek not perfection, but presence.
Calligraphy, to me, is a living practice — a way to breathe, to smile, and to offer peace. The paper is my mother earth; each stroke, a mindful step. One of my favorite teachings is: “Peace in oneself, peace in the world.” I don’t need to be someone great to help others; it is enough to walk gently, to create with awareness, and to let each mark carry a little light for those who see it.
-------------Ink of Emptiness---------------
A brush of breath, a stroke of mind,
Ink flows where thought is left behind.
Each line a pulse, alive, aware—
A whisper caught upon the air.
No self remains to guide the hand,
No will to master or command.
Only the rhythm of breath and bone,
The empty heart, the living tone.
Paper opens—pure, unbound,
A still white field without a sound.
The brush descends, a single wave,
Neither to conquer nor to save.
In black and white, the world appears,
Soft as clouds, yet sharp as spears.
The ink reveals what words conceal:
That silence speaks, and marks can feel.
One breath, one stroke, one fleeting now—
The mind is still, the body bows.
Form arises, form decays—
The emptiness within conveys.
Each movement holds the universe,
Each pause a verse within the verse.
Discipline carves the path to ease,
Through mindful work, the spirit frees.
Not to impress, nor to adorn,
But to return to where we’re born—
To trace the space from which we came,
Before the brush had learned a name.
So Sho unfolds—no start, no end,
A moment inked, yet one that mends.
To write is simply this: to be,
To vanish into unity.
