Melodious Life
I look to capture and express a glimpse of the beautiful mystery and powerful radiance of the soul. The harmony of soft light and sharp focus diffusing together so naturally is a beautiful realm to play in, balancing the smooth with often shining textures. My base media of choice is acrylic followed by oil, though sometimes mixing it up by starting with a gouache under painting. Often I embellish my art with jewels, the glossy shine of silver leaf or strong rustic textures to amplify luminescence and exaggerating values.
Mostly self taught, though I’ve been lucky to have apprenticed from a few of the most skilled artists in Utah and Southern California. I grew up in Utah and as I pursued my passions, the roller coaster of life took me from Utah to Las Vegas where I opened a studio teaching a photorealism style known as Liquid Lead Art (a technique created by Bart Webster). Now back in sunny California painting full time and happily creating, I enjoy the occasional surf break to chase down a perfect glossy wave.
