About Me: I’m the artist behind the monkey business—your friendly neighborhood meme enthusiast. 🐒 Growing up, I painted and drew a lot in my spare time. However, after high school, I slowly gave up drawing and painting as I started chasing degrees like they were Pokémon - pursuing various levels of education to eventually become a professor.
Fast forward to 2024, where I was teaching an entrepreneurship class where students have to start a venture that makes a profit. Not willing to just sit on the sidelines while they did this, I decided to give myself the same objective with more stringent rules - to start a business that is 100% bootstrapped, without ever spending any money.
Armed with an old iPad (cracked screen and all) and a first-gen Apple Pencil (feeling nostalgic yet?), I decided to kickstart my own creative adventure by taking pre-orders in April 2024. I started drawing t-shirt designs for people I knew, soliciting feedback from them and gauging their willingness to pre-order the design so that I could have cashflow before ever spending money. Once I had enough orders to open a free bank account, I went to the bank and then promptly used my new checking account to log on to etsy to get a shop going in late May 2024.
Then I came up with Mojo the Meme Monkey: Shortly after opening the etsy shop, Mojo—the mischievous monkey mascot—swung into my life. 🐵 He whispered memes, doodles, and wild ideas into my ear. And guess what? I listened. Mojo and I teamed up, drawing T-shirt designs that we hope make people chuckle. (Yes, this was for silliness sake. No, I'm not that crazy - there are no real monkeys involved... it's just the ones bouncing around in my mind)
