Ich liebe die kleine Oase von Etsy, in der immer noch Handarbeit herrscht.

Ich begann meine Karriere in den Printmedien als Grafiker und Redakteur.

Später wurde ich Rechtssekretärin, dann zertifizierte Lehrerin und kürzlich Buchhalterin. Als ich unterrichtete, wurde mir schnell klar, dass ich ansprechende Arbeitsblätter erstellen musste, die Spaß, Kreativität und Lernen kombinierten, also entwarf ich noch einmal. Die anderen Lehrer liebten meine Arbeit und ich bin stolz darauf, sagen zu können, dass viele Tausende von Schülern meine "Handouts" im Laufe der Jahre verwendet haben.

Ich habe mich in das Dekorieren mit "Tags" und Printables verliebt, als die Technologie, in Form des Internets und des Heimfarbdruckers, die Werkzeuge, die Künstlern und uns allen zur Verfügung standen, erneut verbesserte. Seltene Ephemera könnten aus den säurefreien Papierkokons herauskommen und gescannt und geteilt werden! Und druckbare digitale Bilder ermöglichen es uns, für nur wenige Cent zu teilen und zu dekorieren. Es erinnert mich an die Handarbeit, die meine Großmutter und Urgroßmutter geleistet haben. Sie machten nützliche, schöne Dinge aus Fetzen und Stücken und natürlichen Gegenständen. Sie taten es mit Herz, und sie taten es mit LIEBE und Respekt für ihr Handwerk.

Als gläubiger Katholik liebe ich es, Rosenkränze zu machen. Es ist ein Highlight meiner Woche. Das und Kreuzstichkreationen.

I love the little oasis of Etsy, where handmade still reigns.

I began my career in print media, as a graphic artist and an editor.

Later, I became a legal secretary, then a certified teacher and lately a bookkeeper. When I taught, I quickly realized I needed to create engaging worksheets that combined fun, creativity, and learning, so once again I was designing. The other teachers loved my work and I am proud to say many thousands of students have used my "handouts" over the years.

I fell in love with decorating with "tags" and printables once technology, in the form of the internet and the home color printer, again boosted the tools available to artists and us all. Rare ephemera could come out from the acid-free paper cocoons and be scanned and shared! And printable digital images allow us to share and decorate for mere pennies. It reminds me of the handwork my grandmother and great-grandmother did. They made useful, lovely things out of scraps and bits and natural objects. They did it with heart, and they did it with LOVE and respect for their craft.

As a devout Catholic, I love making rosaries. It is a highlight of my week. That, and making cross stitch creations.
