Nel 1995 avevo un lavoro noioso ed ero alla disperata ricerca di alcune sfide creative in cui potevo usare le mie mani. Mi sono portato alla scuola d'arte locale, ma la classe di ceramica che mi interessava era piena. Hmm. L'unica cosa rimasta era una classe di fabbro. Così ho martellato il mio cuore e non ho mai guardato indietro. Ho ancora quello che sembra un barattolo di latta che ho forgiato dal rame seduto sul mio banco di gioielli. Mi ricorda quanto sono arrivato vicino a perdere la mia vera vocazione di gioielliere. Non troverete nulla prodotto in serie qui, tutto inizia con il mio cuore e le mie mani ed è eticamente realizzato a mano nel mio studio di New York.

Sono così grato ogni giorno di poter fare ciò che amo per pagare le mie bollette. Sono grato alla community di Etsy e ai miei clienti per avermi sempre supportato.

Per me essere un'azienda etica è più che solo i materiali che uso, è una questione di mentalità. Metalicious è un'azienda eco-consapevole, quindi utilizzo metalli fini recuperati / riciclati e pietre preziose di provenienza etica nel mio lavoro. Uso anche pratiche ecologiche nella gestione della mia attività il più possibile dalla carta da copia che uso ai mailer di spedizione riciclabili. Assumo artisti e aziende locali per aiutare l'economia della mia comunità e insieme creiamo un business che restituisce. Ogni anno dono una percentuale dei miei profitti a City Harvest, un'organizzazione locale che porta cibo sano e gratuito alle comunità di New York che ne hanno più bisogno. Come moglie e mamma, crescendo 2 ragazzi in città, lavoro sodo per lasciare un'impronta più piccola possibile nell'ecosistema e spero di poter essere un esempio positivo per i miei figli per un futuro migliore.

I gioielli sono la mia vera passione, amo creare cose che portino gioia alle persone, che rappresentino pietre miliari, che facciano ridere. Lavorare con le persone per creare gioielli che portino loro gioia rende il mio lavoro completo. Aver creato una piccola impresa che può restituire e sostenere qualcosa di diverso dal fare cose per il gusto delle cose è ciò di cui si tratta per me.

In 1995 I was in a boring job and was desperate for some creative challenges where I could use my hands. I took myself to the local art school but the pottery class I was interested in was full. Hmm. The only thing left was a metalsmithing class. So I hammered my heart out and have never looked back. I still have what looks like a tin-can I forged from copper sitting on my jewelry bench. It reminds me how close I came to missing out on my true calling as a jeweler. You won't find anything mass-produced here, it all starts with my own heart and hands and is ethically handcrafted in my NYC studio.

I'm so thankful every day to be able to do what I love to pay my bills. I'm grateful to the Etsy community and my clients for always supporting me.

To me being an ethical company is more than just the materials I use, it’s about mindset. Metalicious is an eco-conscious company so I use reclaimed/recycled fine metals and ethically sourced gemstones in my work. I also use green practices in running my business as much as possible from the copy paper I use to the recyclable shipping mailers. I hire local artists and businesses to help the economy in my community and together we create a business that gives back. Each year I donate a percent of my profits to City Harvest, a local organization that brings healthy, free food to the communities in NYC that need it the most. As a wife and mom, raising 2 boys in the city, I work hard to leave as small a footprint in the ecosystem as I can and hope I can be a positive example for my kids for a better future.

Jewelry is my true passion, I love creating things that bring joy to people, that represent milestones, that make people laugh. Working with people to make jewelry that brings them joy makes my work complete. Having created a small business that can give back and stand for something other than making stuff for the sake of stuff is what it’s all about for me.
