Metal art jewelry using silver, gold, sea glass and gemstone.
Hello my name is Misty and I am a serial artist.
My high school career guidance counselor told me that having a career in art would never work that I had to find a career that was actually in demand. So what did I do? I chose a field that was related to art as I could possibly think of - Interior design. Several thousand dollars of student loans later and having worked in that field for 15 years I still just want to be an artist.
Metalsmithing has been a great outlet for that creative and artistic bug. I consider myself a sculptor and have loved that medium all throughout my high school and college courses. My mother is perhaps the reason I'm so interested in jewelry. As a kid growing up in Houston TX, she would always take me to the mall and we would ogle the jewelry at all those stores together. Creating a physical wearable object is a fascinating process. From selecting the stones to positioning them and sketching the possibilities it truly is satisfying to see the final outcome.
I am so grateful to each and every buyer of my handmade jewelry . Every time I make a sale I do a little happy dance and a little voice in my head says "suck it guidance counselor."
XO,
Misty
