Art that feels good and does good.
Art that feels good and does good.
I create art for people who spend much of life striving, performing and holding everything together and who long, even for a moment, to slow down and simply breathe.
I'm Michell, a Hong Kong-born, self-taught artist now based in London. Raised in a family and culture that valued doing things the “proper” way, I grew up surrounded by structure, discipline and expectation. But I found myself drawn to the opposite: openness, instinct and freedom.
That’s why I fell in love with abstraction.
I’m fascinated by what cannot be tightly defined. Abstract art offers endless possibilities or a space where there is no single right answer, where movement can be loose and intuitive, and where imagination has room to expand. Making art became a way of stepping outside expectation and reconnecting with something freer and more present. That feeling lives at the heart of every piece I create.
Rooted in Chinese ink traditions yet guided by intuition, my work brings together two contrasting forces. Bold brushstrokes move with energy and spontaneity, reflecting the movement, tension and unpredictability of life. Alongside them, thousands of tiny hand-placed dots created with a 0.03 fineliner slowly build layers of stillness and depth.
Power beside softness. Motion beside calm. Together they breathe.
Then colour enters the conversation where flashes of watercolour, acrylic, oil pastels and metallics bringing brightness, playfulness and emotional lift. The process itself becomes a balance between control and release, discipline and freedom. Because life rarely asks us to choose one or the other.
I believe the art we live with shapes how we feel every day. In lives filled with pressure, expectation and constant movement, art can become more than something beautiful on a wall. It can become a visual breathing space — a quiet reminder to slow down, appreciate the present and return to yourself.
My hope is that when someone lives with my work, they feel a little freer. Freer from pressure. Freer from constant striving. Freer to pause, breathe and remember that life is not only about performing, it is also about being present.
Giving back is woven into this practice too. Ten percent of every sale supports elderly communities — people who deserve to feel loved, respected and seen. This comes from a deeply personal place and shapes the intention behind every piece I create.
When you bring one of these works into your home, you're part of that story too.
Art that feels good. And does good.
