Creating obsessively
It seems as though I have been crafting ever since my grandmother put a needle in my hand to embroider a potholder when I was 3! Grandma was a crafter of major proportions; sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, etc. She made sachets from a tea strainer and plastic pony beads, and Christmas ornaments from paper mache and balloons. Grandpa was always fixing or building something and did paint-by-number pictures that I wish I still had. They frequently got me and my brothers involved in their projects and were a big influence on our creative futures. So, I attribute my compulsive drive to make things to them and it seemed only fitting to name my shop after them, Mildred and Perry.
As a child, I didn't play with dolls, I sewed them clothes, and as I got older, I sewed clothes for myself and our 2 children. I have managed a fabric store, taught quilting classes and got involved in graphic and web design. I make doll clothes and scrapbooks for our granddaughters. I make handcrafted gifts for everyone on every known occasion! I thought maybe it was time to give them a break and find an outlet for all my creations.
Photography, knitting, handmade jewelry, handmade books and creating things from vintage or found objects are my current obsessions.
