Frequently asked questions

Are the meteorites genuine?

Yes, I use genuine Campo del Cielo meteorites.
I purchase my meteorites only from registered members of IMCA, who have very strict rules on who they allow as members, and they keep close watch on the authenticity of the products their members sell.
My meteorites have also been verified by a local meteorite expert.
You will recieve a card with information about your meteorite.

Campo del Cielo meteorites are not particularly rare, and are found in Argentina. Check out the wiki page for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campo_del_Cielo
IMCA website: http://imca.cc/
Most of my work is handmade from scratch, but some of metoerite rings are made with a production partner.

Care instructions

Meteorites are iron, and contain nickel.
They need to be kept clean and dry to prevent rust.
I've had my meteorite wedding ring for about three years now, with no signs of rust at all.
I take it off when I wash my hands or shower, and when the ring needs to be cleaned, I do so with warm soapy water and a baby tooth brush. The meteorite needs to be thoughrougly dried right away, and then oiled. I use coconut oil, but any oil will do.

The silver I use is Sterling Silver 925, and may tarnish over time, as sterling silver does. Use a silver dip purchased at a jewellery store, and follow the instructions for it. You can dip the meteorites in it.
The gold does not tarnish, but may need to be polished once in a while.

Custom and personalized orders

I am open for custom orders in gold or platinum!
I have a large collection of precious gemstones, and I am able to source any stone you wish, if I don't have it in stock already.

I am currently not doing custom orders in silver or brass, but I do offer some ring designs that can be made to your size.

Conflict free and ethically sourced diamonds

I use conflict free diamonds, sourced ethically from diamond suppliers working closely with the miners and cutters, ensuring good working conditions, and giving back to the communities.
Buying real diamonds supports some of the poorest communities in the world, and while there is still a lot to be desired, the diamond trade continues to move towards a better conditions.

I use raw and rustic diamonds, becuase they are so beautifully marked by nature, and the process of creation they went through over millions of years. The huge jewellery chains do not want these, so by buying them, the miners get to sell their product, which they otherwise wouldn't be able to.
There are also fewer links between miner and end customer on these.

Vintage Diamonds

I also really like using vintage diamonds. Reuse and recycling is so important for our planet.
By buying old diamonds, you get one that is already in the market, no additional environmental strain is put on our planet.

In addition to the sustainability aspect, vintage diamonds are also extremely beautiful. Old European Cut look so ethereal, and fit beautifully with a nature-inspired style.

Moissanite

I absolutely love moissanites!
They're nearly as hard as diamonds, reflect even more light, so they sparkle more than diamonds. And they cost a fraction of the size!

I use high quality moissanites, colourless or near colourless, depending on what looks best in your ring design.

Moissanites are available in any cuts, I can custom order one for you if you have something specific in mind!

Moissanites were first discovered within a meteorite, so I love combining them with real meteorites in rings and jewellery.

Shipping

I use UPS Express on all gold and platinum rings, which usually takes 1-7 days depending on location.

For all silver items, and some small gold items, I use the Norwegian Postal Service, and this is untracked, slow post. It comes with a package number, but it doesn't get scanned and updated along the way. This usually takes 2-6 weeks depending on where in the world you are located. It's safe, and in the rare event a package is lost, I of course replace it.
You can choose to upgrade to UPS.

Please include your phone number when ordering, or message me with it so that I can include it on the shipping label. If you choose to not provide your number, this may cause delays.

Returns and Exchanges

Custom orders and made-to-order items are non-returnable, this includes rings made to your size specifications, and resized rings.
So if a ring is ready to ship, and you request a resizing, it has been customized and can't be returned.
Earrings and nose piercings are considered intimate, and not returnable.
Ready to ship items that have been unaltered and unused, can be returned for a restocking fee of 10%. They must not be worn, but you may of course try them on.

Taxes

All import taxes, VAT, fees, and tarrifs are legally the responsibility of the customer. Contact your local customs office for questions about import tax laws in your area.
Please note that Norway is not a part of the EU.

For orders delivered within Norway, 25% MVA is included.
For orders delivered outside of Norway, the Norwagian tax is not added.

For customers in some other countries, Etsy charges the import tax when you place an order if the total value is under a certain amount.
If you see the tax/VAT added at checkout, you will not be charged to recieve your package.
On high value orders where you do not see tax/VAT added to the price you paid on Etsy, UPS will collect the appropriate tax upon delivery.

US Tariffs

Silver and brass items, as well as some smaller gold items, are shipped through the Norwegian Postal Service, and delivered in the US by USPS.
These items are shipped DDP to the US, with the tariffs prepaid so you will not be charged to recieve your package.
Larger gold jewellery, and all gold and platinum rings are sent through UPS and the tariffs are not charged when you purchase on Etsy, but will be collected by UPS upon delivery.

Read the description of each listing to see which applies, or message me and I will explain.
