My goal is to create a mala you will connect with.
After my husband and I moved to Southern California from New York, I knew it was the right time to take a second look at my career path. I decided to take some time off to figure it all out. With a lot of time on my hands and the urge to understand myself better I turned to my long lost friend, yoga. Soon I became addicted to hot yoga sessions and found myself on my mat daily. The soothing benefits of daily spiritual practice quickly led me to explore meditation and Buddhism further.
As I searched for the perfect mala that would accompany me on my journey, I did not find any that I connected with. Remembering vaguely my fascination with healing crystals as a child, I once again purchased books and started reading about the captivating world of crystals. I designed my first mala soon after and searched for the right supplies to create it with. The world of gemstone beads had me stunned and all the possible designs started to float in my mind.
Mastering the craft was much more difficult than I initially anticipated. Being a stubborn perfectionist paid off in this case. I now enjoy the conscious work that goes into creating a mala. I write down all my design ideas as they come to me, sometimes in the middle of the night. Finding a combination of colors, textures and metaphysical properties that best represent the idea I have in mind sometimes takes weeks. The best ideas are turned into a mala made with only high quality natural materials, a meditative mindset and a lot of attention to details. I believe a mala should be pure and made with respect to nature’s intent. My goal is to create a mala that you will instantly connect with and feel the energy and compassion I created it with.
It's been four years since I made my first mala. I now spend all my weekdays (and often weekends) in my peaceful home studio - designing, handcrafting and photographing my malas. It gives me great joy to ship my creations all over the world. Connecting with like-minded people directly through Etsy and hearing from my lovely customers say how much they enjoy my work quickly became one of my favorite things about running a small creative business.
