Seeing not just what "fits" together merely, but looking for boldness in the sometimes unexpected that both excite and stimulate.
I ask myself, "What inspires my current inspiration?"
"What is quilt couture?"
It is the meticulous attention to detail.
It is the comfort of a well-worn sweater and simple yet beautiful design. I feel not only does it need to speak to us visually, but bear a message about us internally or evoke a feeling and emotion (meaning to the viewer and the beholder) to our internal soul.
My store MitchelLavender reflects those images and feelings of the familiar textures and patterns that are found in nostalgic designs and in vintage fabrics.
My handcrafted quilts are individually chic, simply adorned, uncomplicated, but rich in quality, whimsy and craftsmanship.
All original creations are selected and constructed from scratch, by hand, by me.
